Doug's Weekly Success Tip 1
"You can't wait for inspiration. You have to go after it with a club."
– Jack London (1876-1916) American author
Consider this:
Inspiration doesn't show up on its own. You've got to chase it. More to the point, you've got to continually put yourself in situations where it's likely to occur. And that usually means you've got to shake yourself out of your normal routine.
Don't let yourself slip into a comfortable rut. Put yourself in new and different situations - with new and different people - in new and different places. Do more exploring, reading, writing, & listening. This forces you to make connections that will spark new ideas. And new ideas are at the heart of inspiration.
Try this:
- Rate how inspired you feel on a scale of 1-10. Are you happy with the number? If not, get into action and do something different. Perhaps something you haven't done in a while. Use this action to generate new ideas and energy.
- Remember, inspiration will never find you on its own.
